Todd Beavers was out jogging in Oakland Park, Fla., just north of Fort Lauderdale, when he spotted a wheeled cart sitting atop of what looked to him like a pile of trash at the curb.
Thinking it was up for grabs, he grabbed it. Another man, who was already inspecting the pile, tried to wrest it from him. When that didn’t work, he gave chase.
A half-mile later, the guy finally managed to get his point across — literally. He whipped out a sword and started swinging.
The Broward County Police Department released the video in an attempt to identify the sword swinger, who is still on the loose. They are offering a $3,000 reward for any information that leads to his arrest.
“Once the jogger arrived at this home, he realized he was followed by the man, who was carrying what appeared to be a red stick,” police said in a statement. “As the suspect got closer to the jogger, he removed a long sword from a red sheath and began swinging it at the jogger as he tried to wrestle the cart away. The jogger eventually told the man the attack was being captured on video. The suspect saw the camera and retreated but threatened to return.”
