The White House is planning to withdraw its nominee for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) after seven months, CNN reported Wednesday evening.

CNN reported a personal issue that came up within the past week prompted the White House's decision, and Byard himself asked for the nomination to be withdrawn. 

Trump nominated Byard in May after former FEMA head Brock Long stepped down amid an internal ethics investigation.
