These are just some of the questions that critics of President Trump are probably asking themselves today, in disbelief, after the president’s declaration that he feels “honored” for the support received from the LGBTQ community, adding that he thinks he’s “done really very well” with them.

On Tuesday, the president was asked about his administration’s latest attack on the transgender community: “Mr. President, your administration has been taking steps to make it easier to discriminate against LGBT people in the workforce,” a reporter for the LGBTQ newspaper Washington Blade asked. “Are you OK with those actions?”

The new rule, which was announced last week, would allow certain businesses to discriminate against LGBTQ individuals according to employers’ religious beliefs.

Trump got out of a potentially awkward situation by praising himself, with little regard for the facts.
