Pamela Smart was denied a chance for freedom nearly 30 years after conspiring with a student to murder her husband in New Hampshire.

A state council voted Wednesday to forego a hearing for the 51-year-old Smart, who has now exhausted all of her appeal options.

Smart was sentenced to life in prison without parole in connection with the 1990 slaying of husband Greggory Smart. Student William Flynn and three other youths cooperated with prosecutors and served time in prison.

The council voted 4-0 to deny Smart a hearing, with one member abstaining. The council had denied a similar request 14 years ago.
