A Tennessee thief has been busted after investigators found his severed finger at the scene of his crime, The U.S. Sun reports.

So in the end it was a cinch for the Tennessee cops to point the finger at the thief, because all they had to do was connect the missing digit to its owner.

In addition to his severed finger, the injured Hugh Seeber, 50, left behind his cell phone and tools at the property of his robbing victim.

Anderson County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) in Marlow received a complaint about a stolen log splitter.

The rightful owner of the purloined log splitter told Tennessee authorities that he found that the sticky-fingered, yet severed-fingered thief had left various tools and other detritus scattered about his driveway.
