One of the teenagers accused of shooting a rising country music star to death in Nashville escaped from juvenile detention with three other boys, including another murder suspect, police said.
Decorrius Wright, 16, and the other baby-faced suspects broke out of the facility in downtown Nashville Saturday around 9:44 p.m. and were still at large Sunday night, the Metro Nashville Police Department said.
The group took advantage of their staff supervisor being distracted by a fight in another part of the facility and hopped on an elevator to the ground floor, fleeing through a series of doors, police said.
Wright is one of five minors between the ages of 12 and 16 who were charged with criminal homicide Feb. 7 for allegedly robbing musician Kyle Yorlets, 24, of his wallet and then killing him when he refused to give them the keys to his car.
Wright’s bond was set at $400,000 in August after prosecutors argued he was too dangerous to be released, local outlets reported at the time.
