The former Parliamentary researcher in her 20s reportedly wants the ex-minister identified, insisting it would not put her own anonymity at risk.

She has said she was 'devastated' when the Conservative chief whip Mark Spencer decided not to suspend the MP, who has been arrested and bailed by police. 

Mr Spencer appeared to suggest yesterday that taking action against the politician could undermine the woman's anonymity. He said the allegations - which are denied by the MP - were being taken 'seriously' but it was for the police to investigate. 

However, according to the Telegraph, the alleged victim told friends: 'His defence today that he can't name the MP because it would identify me is rubbish. 

'I didn't work for this MP and in any case I have lifelong anonymity so there is no risk of me being ''outed'' in the press.'
