Seattle police said a man who parked next to the downtown FBI office with a flaming tire Saturday was lying about having a bomb in the truck.
The man, who has not been publicly identified, parked his truck in an alley next to the building around 1:15 p.m. and told first responders called to the fire that he had a bomb, interim Seattle police Chief Adrian Diaz said during a press conference.
Explosive experts “immediately” determined that there was no bomb, Diaz said, and the man was arrested.
Officials are investigating other claims the man made before being taken into custody and what motive he may had.
Diaz said Seattle police are taking extra care leading up to the inauguration in light of the attempted siege on the Capitol and threats at statehouses around the country.
