An “awfully drunk” man who passed a counterfeit bill to buy cigarettes and was “not in control of himself.”

That’s how a caller appeared to describe George Floyd to a dispatcher moments before the unarmed black man died in the hands of four Minneapolis police officers earlier this week, according to a transcript of the 911 call released by the city on Thursday night.

“So, this guy gave a counterfeit bill, has your cigarettes, and he’s under the influence of something?” the operator asked the caller.

Floyd, a 46-year-old father of two, died Monday after a now-fired white cop pressed his knee against the back of his neck for several minutes while the handcuffed suspect repeatedly cried out that he couldn’t breathe.

Police claim they were investigating a forgery report when Floyd began to “physically resist arrest." Multiple videos from the scene appear to contradict that account and the lack of charges days after the brutal arrest has sparked violent protests across the country.
