An eccentric Russian professor who chopped up his lover then planned to commit suicide dressed as Napolean Bonaparte had flown into a jealous rage before the murder, according to reports.

St. Petersburg State University Professor Oleg Sokolov — a noted Bonaparte reenactor — got into a heated fight Friday with his student-turned-sweetheart Anastasia Yeshchenko in the hours leading up to her death, BBC reported.

In a teary phone call, Yeschenko, 24, confided in her brother that she got into a fight with her 63-year-old boyfriend, sparked by the professor’s jealously, the outlet reported.

She told her brother that she wanted to attend a friend’s birthday party, but Sokolov reacted negatively to her plans, the outlet Crime Russia reported.

Sokolov sent the young woman packing to a youth hostel and told her to return later to collect her belongings, according to the report.
