President Trump marked the second anniversary of the deadly school shooting in Parkland, Florida on Friday, tweeting that all Americans should “cherish and honor” the memories of the 17 victims.
“We will always mourn the innocent lives taken from us – 14 wonderful students and 3 terrific educators,” the tweet read. “Earlier this week, I met with families whose experiences from that horrible day still pierce the soul ….
“Today, @FLOTUS and I encourage all Americans to cherish and honor the memory of those we have lost through acts of love and service. We will hold Parkland forever in our hearts.”
Fred Guttenberg, the father of shooting victim Jaime Guttenberg, 14, was escorted from Trump’s State of the Union address last week after shouting from the gallery about gun control. He had been a guest of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Accused shooter Nikolas Cruz, a former student at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, remains jailed pending a trial on 17 counts of murder and 17 counts of attempted murder for the Feb. 14, 2018 slaughter.
