U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Monday addressed the upcoming summit between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

"This is truly a mission of peace" Pompeo told members of the media assembled in Singapore, saying that talks were ongoing with North Korean officials.

Those talks were moving quickly, he said, adding: "We anticipate that they will come to their logical conclusion even more quickly than we had anticipated"

The secretary of state said the U.S. is "hopeful" the summit will "set the conditions for future productive talks."
