Investigators are looking for a discarded "plastic yellow fuel can" in connection with the slaying of a 38-year-old mother and her three children inside their Massachusetts home.

The burned bodies of Sara Bermudez, 8-year-old Madison, 6-year-old James and little Michael, who was 2, were found Thursday after police were called to the residence in West Brookfield.

Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. said in a press release that yellow is the color of cans used to store diesel fuel, and that cops have determined that a yellow fuel can is missing from the home.

Authorities are asking local residents with "active home or business surveillance cameras or dashboard-mounted cameras" to contact the State Police Dispatch Center.

"There's an awful lot of moving parts in the investigation right now," he said, according to the Boston Herald. "We’re asking the public to remain vigilant and careful. This has been declared four homicides, anything you see out of the ordinary, please call us. We think the public should remain safe, careful and vigilant with regards to this investigation."
