A police investigation has been launched after a man thought to be in his 70s died following a 'disturbance where rocks were thrown' in the grounds of a historic Kent castle.

The victim is understood to have been walking through the grounds of Lullingstone Castle in Eynsford when he died at around 5pm on Thursday.

Rocks were allegedly thrown by a person close to the historic manor house, before the man sadly passed away at the scene. 

Witnesses reported seeing armed police arrive at the estate and administer CPR, before paramedics attempted to save the victim's life.   

Roads were closed near to Lullingstone Castle last night, and officers are understood to be searching fields close to the grounds
