Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron was preparing to announce whether to charge three cops involved in Taylor’s shooting death around 1:30 p.m., according to a report.
State police were seen blocking off the Kentucky History Center in Frankfort for an expected news conference and a nearby school told parents it would close early, The Courier Journal reported.
The city of Louisville has been under a state of emergency this week and several government buildings were closed ahead of the announcement and potential unrest.
Cameron’s office has been investigating the case for six months and was tasked with deciding whether to charge three of the cops involved in the botched March 13 raid — Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly, officer Myles Cosgrove and ex-cop Brett Hankison.
The 26-year-old unarmed Black woman was fatally shot when police stormed her apartment to serve a “no-knock” warrant in the middle of the night. The incident helped fuel a wave of protests against police brutality and systemic racism in recent months.
