Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu Inaugurates “Trump Heights” Settlement in the Golan Heights on Sunday

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced in April he was proposing a resolution to name a new community in the Golan Heights after President Donald Trump.

This came after US President Donald Trump recognized Israel’s right to the Golan Heights in March.

This weekend that dream became a reality.

Israel took control of the Golan Heights from Syria in the 1967 Middle East war. In March, President Trump was the first major international leader to recognise Israeli sovereignty over the area since Israel annexed the Golan in 1981.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Cabinet celebrated the establishment of a new settlement named for President Trump called Ramat Trump — or “Trump Heights.”
