Criiiiinge @nikkibeachcannes ! Cannes film festival grows bigger every year with parties and pop-ups to cater to the hoards of celebs in attendance. One such party, thrown by Nikki Beach Hotels & Resorts and designed by @visionairevents as part of a beachfront residence, was titled “OJIBWE / WHITE PARTY” and featured a tipi entrance and costumed performers/hosts in Coachella-esque misappropriations of Native American garb (among other amalgamations of indigenous imagery). Who knew dream catchers could double as headdresses and acrobatic hoops? Fortunately, many tribal names are protected in the same way brand names are. As one of the largest Native American groups in North America, hopefully the Ojibwe will file suit for the usage of their tribal name and be able to preserve their intellectual property and historic legacy. A Cannes hotel hosted a tone-deaf Native American-themed party Wednesday night that featured models in traditional headdress and scantily-clad men wearing tassels and dream catchers as accessories.

Nikki Beach threw the party at their pop-up hotel during the Cannes Film Festival with models Winnie Harlow and Cindy Bruna.

The fashion Instagram account Diet Prada posted images from the party before the hotel and the promoter’s realized the cultural faux pas.
