When you’re stuck waiting at the doctor’s office, your options are limited: You can pick up a magazine, scroll through your phone or try to spark a conversation with the person next to you.

The off-duty Coney Island cop wasted no time as he jumped in to help a woman who collapsed on the sidewalk outside his doctor’s office on Nov. 23.

“It was just instinct,” said Li, 36, a four-year veteran of the NYPD. “When something like this happens, you don’t think, ‘Am I wearing my uniform or not?’”

Li’s quick action and selfless save has been noticed. In appreciation, the NYPD has recommended him for a Daily News Hometown Heroes award.

Li, a native of China who moved to the U.S. just six months before 9/11, was with his wife in the waiting room of the doctor’s office on Seventh Ave. near 57th St. in Sunset Park about 1:50 p.m. when someone rushed into the office asking if anyone knew CPR.
