A gunman opened fire Monday in a lecture hall at Heidelberg University in southwest Germany, wounding 4 people before killing himself, according to ABC News.
The lone shooter injured 4 people, “some seriously,” during a lecture at Heidelberg University with a “long gun,” before fleeing outside, according to a statement from Mannheim Police. The police later made clear that “there is currently no long longer any danger.” (RELATED: Alleged Shooter At Illinois University Turns Self In, School Says)
“The perpetrator himself is dead,” Mannheim police said in a tweet. The gunman shot and killed himself, local German broadcasting company SWR reported. The attacker was also allegedly in possession of a backpack containing more weapons.
