GOP Senator Blasts ‘The Squad’: ‘They’re The Reason There Are Directions On A Shampoo Bottle’

Sen. John Kennedy is funny. Really funny.

On Tuesday, the Louisiana Republican appeared on Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Tonight to talk about the war between President Trump and what is now being called “The Squad” — Democratic Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts.

“I’m not sure the president should exchange playground insults with them. When you try to argue with a fool, that proves there are two. But the president decided to do so,” Kennedy said. “The simple fact of the matter is that the four congresswomen think that America was wicked in its origins, they think that America and its people are even more wicked now, that we are all racist and misogynistic and evil.”

Then Kennedy got rolling.

“They are entitled to their opinion. They are Americans. But I’m entitled to my opinion, and I just think they are left-wing cranks and they are the reason that there are directions on a shampoo bottle,” Kennedy said. “I think we should ignore them.”

Trump ignited a firestorm over the weekend with several posts on Twitter. “So interesting to see ‘Progressive’ Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run,” Trump tweeted Saturday.

“Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!” the president tweeted.

But Kennedy said the furor is overblown.

“I don’t think President Trump is a racist. I don’t think his original tweet was racist. I think it was a poor choice of words, which is why he clarified,” Kennedy said. “What he has said now in clarification is that this is not China. This is America, and in America, if you hate our country, you are free to leave. Now he said that in response to the behavior of the four congresswomen that you are talking about, the so-called ‘squad.’”

The senator also came up with a new name for “The Squad.”

“They are destroying the Democratic Party,” he said. “I’m appalled that so many of our presidential candidates are falling all over themselves to try to agree with the four horsewomen of the Apocalypse.”
