Giants left tackle Nate Solder is expected to be sidelined until training camp after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle Thursday for bone spurs, a source confirmed Friday.

The surgery is not considered major, but it will keep him off the field for OTAs and mandatory minicamp in early June. NFL Network first reported the procedure.

Solder, 31, is the lynchpin of the Giants’ rebuilt offensive line. He is entering his second season with the team after signing a huge free agent deal as a two-time Super Bowl winner with the New England Patriots.

Eli Manning, 38, is entering the final year of his contract and for now is the presumed Week 1 starter. The improvement and health of his entire offensive line is paramount.

This is not the same leg that Solder injured in mandatory minicamp a year ago, when a pile-up undercut the left tackle’s right leg during a drill. An ensuing melee saw then-Giant DT Damon Harrison swing a helmet at rookie left guard Will Hernandez’s unprotected head.
