The former New York high school student who confessed to raping a classmate will serve an interim probation of one year, a judge ruled Wednesday.

Elias Dowdy, a 19-year-old former Niagara Wheatfield Senior High School student, pleaded guilty to third-degree rape in May, almost exactly a year after he raped the victim at her Niagara home.

During the year-long probation, Dowdy must live at home, receive psychiatric treatment and can’t engage in any sexually explicit sites, according to WKBW.

He also stands the chance of being granted youthful offender status, which would make the conviction private.

“I am very sorry for what I’ve done, and I hope that the victim can forgive me,” Dowdy said in court.
