An artificial rugby pitch was left looking 'like a crumpled rug' as floods continue to batter the UK - with 134 alerts in place.   

Derby Rugby Club bosses were stunned when they saw their £400,000 3G playing surface ruined by the recent floods. The club's ground, which is next to the River Derwent, was hit by days of torrential rain and storms which have battered the country. 

The river bursts its banks and flood water surged under the artificial grass causing dramatic folds to emerge on the surface.   

Elsewhere, a farmer in Lincoln hit out at the Environment Agency after flood water submerged his farmland as the building which houses the organisation sits high and dry at a headquarters just metres away. 

As many areas continue to battle the deluge of water which has swamped homes and businesses, the UK is facing further flood alerts as desperate families across the country get set to prepare for more downpours as 115 areas are expected to be hit.
