Four protesters who say they were attacked by racist militia members in Kenosha are suing Facebook for allegedly enabling the violence that left two dead and many others injured during a night of unrest last month.

The federal lawsuit, filed Tuesday in Wisconsin, also claims that accused murderer Kyle Rittenhouse, the alleged leader of the Kenosha Guard militia group and a follower of an extremist group known as the Boogaloo Bois threatened, harassed and terrorized protesters on the night of Aug. 25.

One of the plaintiffs is Hannah Gittings, who was “forced to watch her best friend and soulmate die,” according to the complaint. Her boyfriend, Anthony Huber, was one of two men fatally shot by Rittenhouse during an altercation that night.

The deadly protest came days after police shot and wounded Jacob Blake, a Black man who had struggled with officers during an attempted arrest.

The lawsuit accused Facebook of failing to take down posts by “white racist militias” that used the platform to publicize a “call to arms” against the protesters in Kenosha.
