Former Obama senior adviser Jim Messina took a logical walk when he suggested Elizabeth Warren is hypocritical for refusing to appear on Fox News, while at the same time purchasing ads on Facebook after saying she’d like to see the company broken up.

The outpouring of praise for South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg‘s Fox News town hall continued Monday, as MSNBC Live host Hallie Jackson convened Messina and GOP strategist Rick Wilson to wax enthusiastic about the Chris Wallace-moderated forum.

Wilson repeatedly boasted that Fox News “reaches 90 million homes,” which seems to be a better argument for Democrats go do town halls on QVC (which “reaches” 100 million homes) than anything else, while Messina took on Warren’s announcement that she will not appear on Fox News with something approaching originality.

Jackson noted that “Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris have said no” to a Fox town hall, and asked Messina “if you were working for either of those two women, would you tell them to reconsider?”

“I would, and I think Elizabeth Warren pointed out, she’s like, ‘I don’t want to give ad revenue to a network I disagree with,'” Messina said, which is not what Warren said. Warren’s objection to providing Fox News with revenue-generating opportunities was explicitly because the network is an “outlet that profits from racism and hate,” as she described it, and not simply because she “disagrees” with it.
