‘Empower’ Women for Trump Events to Be Held by Campaign Across Nation on Thursday; Registration Still Open

The Trump campaign is holding ‘Women for Trump’ events in over a dozen cities across the country Thursday evening in conjunction with the Trump Victory Leadership Initiative, with the Tampa event headlined by senior Trump administration advisor and 2016 campaign manager Kellyanne Conway. Other locales have featured speakers such as former Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, former Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle and Angel Mom Mary Ann Mendoza. The events are being held to mark the 99th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment guaranteeing women the right to vote that occurred on August 18, 1920.

A goal of the events is to ‘encourage women who are reluctant to publicly declare themselves Trump supporters to feel as though they can.’

Trump campaign adviser Katrina Pierson and former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi are also scheduled for the Tampa event.

The Trump campaign press release for the Tampa event reads:

On Thursday, August 22, 2019 Women for Trump will host “An Evening to Empower”, a campaign coalition event centered around the 99th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th amendment. The event is scheduled to take place at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, Florida. The Honorable Kellyanne Conway and Former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi will attend the event and address attendees.

The event will be hosted by the Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. and will include a presentation by the Trump Victory Leadership Initiative (TVLI), a nationwide effort designed to mobilize volunteers, register and engage voters in an effort to re-elect President Trump and to support down-ballot republicans in 2020. Women for Trump will be participating in TVLI efforts across the country on August 22nd all in an effort to register voters ahead of the 2020 elections.

“Women across America know that President Trump has made empowering women a top priority. We are excited to see early movement not only in Tampa, but across the country to Keep America Great,” said Hannah Castillo, Coalitions Director, Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. “Between 5 million new jobs, prioritizing public safety and expanding access to affordable healthcare choices, Women for Trump know they have a powerful voice in echoing the President’s promises made, promises kept.”

Politico reported Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis was set to attend the Tampa event but cancelled as Florida has a death row prisoner scheduled for execution Thursday night and state protocol calls for the governor’s office to forgo public events.

Excerpt from a Politico report on the events:

…A campaign official involved with the planning said about 2,000 attendees were expected across the gatherings in 13 states, as of Tuesday.

…Trump and his allies have repeatedly pointed to the women’s unemployment rate, which has hovered between 3.5 and 4 percent since last summer, and the inclusion of a paid family leave plan in the latest White House budget as evidence that American women have benefited from his policies.

“I’m just going to be very direct with people: It’s a complete scam, a hoax, that we’re going into recession,” said Tana Goertz, an Iowa campaign staffer and former “Apprentice” contestant. Goertz will host about 50 women outside Des Moines on Thursday as part of the Trump campaign’s “Evening to Empower.”

…n addition to Iowa and Georgia, the campaign has planned women-focused events in Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, Texas, Pennsylvania, Colorado, North Carolina, Virginia, Ohio, Minnesota and Florida. Each will feature a member of the Women for Trump advisory board, some of whom received a general outline with tips on how to engage prospective volunteers and promote the president’s agenda.

“We want to get their information, activate them, get them to become neighborhood team leaders,” Goertz said.

…Part of the goal of Thursday, according to Goertz, is to encourage women who are reluctant to publicly declare themselves Trump supporters to feel as though they can.

“We just kind of want to empower them to express their passion and approval of our president and not be afraid,” Goertz said.
