Applications have only been available for a week, but already 76 people have applied to sell or grow marijuana in the pine tree state, the Associated Press reported. Any facilities need to be approved by individual municipalities before they can be built.

There were 38 applications for retail stories, 27 for cultivation facilities and 11 for manufacturing facilities, according to the AP. Applicants don’t yet need to have physical stores in order to apply.

Maine voted to legalize recreational marijuana use back in 2016, but political gridlock and infighting prevented the state from rolling out the legal structure for a marijuana economy in the state. The 2018 election of Democratic Gov. Janet Mills to replace Republican Paul LePage helped pave the way. DePage had opposed marijuana legalization.

David Heidrich, a spokesman for the Maine Office of Marijuana Policy, told the AP that marijuana could finally be in Maine stores as soon as spring 2020.
