A veteran custodian who worked at police headquarters in lower Manhattan became the NYPD employee to die of coronavirus Thursday.

Dennis Dickson, 62, of Brooklyn, was hospitalized Tuesday, and died at Kings County Hospital Thursday, police said.

Dickson, whose job included disinfecting areas of the 15-story police headquarters in lower Manhattan, worked for the NYPD for 14 years.

After Hurricane Sandy in October 2012, Dickson worked a marathon 17 days in the building cleaning up the damage, police officials said.

As of Thursday, 351 NYPD employees — 294 cops and 57 civilians — tested positive for coronavirus. More than 1% of the city’s cops called out sick Thursday — 3,674 in total.
