Fox & Friends co-host Brian Kilmeade put the immigration situation at the southern US border in a new light Friday morning, when he compared the current and unfolding situation to 9/11 and the market crash of 2008.
Kilmeade made this comment during a passionate plea for bipartisan collaboration, noting that “there are times when Democrats and Republicans come together. When the market fell apart in 2008 and after 9/11, this is almost like that at the border.” He added “we have never seen these numbers before. And the men and women who have to round up these illegals who want to become part of our country are saying please help us,” and added, “they could actually get something done now, please go behind closed doors and do it.”
Given the vast amount of coverage that Fox & Friends have dedicated to covering the “caravans” of mostly Central American migrants making their way to the southern U.S. border, Kilmeade’s comparison should not surprise regular viewers. But putting the “border crisis” in the same canon as the attacks of 9/11 and the financial crisis of 2008 will certainly raise some eyebrows of those who mostly watch Fox & Friends segments neatly provided by handsome Mediaite editors.
