Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke wants to tear down existing border walls between the United States and Mexico.
The candidate responded “yes,” when asked about ripping down the border barriers during an interview with Latino USA’s Maria Hinojosa, which was released on Friday.

“The short answer is yes. I would include all local stakeholders. There are more than 600 miles of walls, fencing and physical barriers now, along that 2000 mile border,” O’Rourke replied.
He claimed that crime in El Paso went up after a wall was completed on their border and he wants to remove it, along with walls in other places where there are barriers that he does not believe are helping.
Trump praised El Paso’s border wall during his State of the Union address earlier this year.
“The border city of El Paso, Texas, used to have extremely high rates of violent crime — one of the highest in the country, and considered one of our nation’s most dangerous cities,” Trump said in his State of the Union address. “Now, with a powerful barrier in place, El Paso is one of our safest cities.”
O’Rourke is campaigning on removing border walls and taking away people’s guns and ability to defend themselves.
