An arrest has been made in connection with the death of a 6-month-old boy in Atlanta, who was fatally struck by a stray bullet while he sat in the backseat of his mother’s car earlier this week.
Officers with the Atlanta Police Department tracked down the suspect, 22-year-old Dequasie Little, less than 24 hours after Grayson Matthew Fleming-Gray was fatally shot outside a Food Mart Convenience store. The baby was traveling in a vehicle with his mother, Kari Gray, along Anderson Avenue on Monday when a gun battle erupted nearby.
“What happened was the bullet had gone through the trunk and straight through my son,” Gray told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Tuesday.
Atlanta Police Chief Rodney Bryant in wake of the violence said Grayson was not the intended target of the gunfire. He said Little and another person became engaged in an argument that eventually triggered the deadly violence.
Little is being charged with felony murder and aggravated assault. Authorities are also working to find a vehicle in connection with the case, which has been described as a “possibly grey or white” Jeep SUV.
