Despite Donald Trump's march, despite often being heard many discouraging words, Rand Paul continues doing what he set out to do: speaking his message, trying to win hearts and minds and hopefully come next year a lot of votes. Two recent high-profile cases have once again highlighted America's complex relationship with the death penalty. In Colorado, a jury declined to impose the death penalty on theater shooter James Holmes. And in Connecticut, whose legislature had recently abolished capital punishment prospectively, the state supreme court held that the Connecticut constitution barred the execution of those whose offenses had preceded that legislative change. Both cases contributed to the ongoing national capital punishment debate. Some openly wondered whether the availability of the death penalty in Colorado still…

Republican presidential candidate Scott Walker on Friday delivered remarks on foreign policy at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. In a departure from many of his predecessors, who have reined in the campaign rhetoric in their remarks at the military college, Walker's speech was as much political broadside as policy prescription. He assailed former secretary of state Hillary Clinton for "trying to appease" Russian president Vladimir Putin; for downplaying China's human rights abuses; and for her actions after the terrorist attack on the American diplomatic facility in Benghazi, Libya.…
